People affected by a learning disability

The focus of this project will be to encourage and support people with a learning disability to interact and engage with digital technologies and use them to benefit and improve their quality of life.  The EverybodyOnline project will provide the relevant supports to people with a learning disabiltiy to use computers and the Internet for education, research, leisure and keeping in contact with friends and family.  This engagement will endorse and increase social inclusion within communities thus encouraging and promoting independent living and personal development.

The project will also engage and connect with families, carers and professionals who support people with a learning disability encouraging them to also benefit from the inclusion of digital technologies in their lives.

Project Objectives

• To promote awareness of digital technologies to people with a learning disability and highlight how it can improve and benefit their lives

• To develop strong working partnerships with key stakeholders for the successful delivery of the project

• To ensure people with learning disabilities become competent in the use of ICT and use it to enhance their lives

• To reduce the current digital divide that exists between digital technology and people with a learning disability throughout Northern Ireland

• To provide people with a learning disability the opportunity to engage within the local community

• To allow for the development of beneficial, sustainable strategies

• To highlight assistive technologies
