Kirsten Cook – Gorgie Dalry - Edinburgh

Kirsten recently joined EverybodyOnline in the Gorgie Dalry area of Edinburgh which is located to the west of the city. After many years of self-employment, Kirsten’s most current roles have involved her working as a business start-up advisor for a social project in West Edinburgh, and prior to that as an IT tutor for community outreach projects ran by the local College of Further Education.
Both of these roles involved her working in a range of community partnerships and learning initiatives including the development of a10 week employability programme for16 to 25 year olds not engaging in employment, education or training (NEET’s). She also ran information and training sessions on a range of business start-up topics such as book keeping, business planning and marketing; as well as employability topics such as CV writing, job searching and interview skills, incorporating ICT. She was also involved with the newly formed West Edinburgh Business Incubator Unit which offers one-to-one advice and training to people thinking about becoming self-employed.
Until recently Kirsten lived just a few blocks away from the Gorgie Dalry area, but has since moved more central to Edinburgh with her husband and their daughter; an eight year old heavily into highland dancing, hamsters, and who is now officially past the ‘pink’ stage. Together they enjoy hill walking in the Lake District, eating out, reading, listening to music and cooking.
