Alamein, Hampshire

The Andover EverybodyOnline project will be officially launched in December 2007 and will be focusing on the Andover ward of Alamein.

EverybodyOnline is working in partnership with the Alamein ward’s ‘Turnaround Project’ and BT.  The Turnaround Project’s partners include Test Valley Borough Council, Testway Housing, Test Valley Community Services, Hampshire County Council and Hampshire Police. 

The ward of Alamein is a well-established community, located between Andover town and large areas of the Hampshire countryside.  The ward includes people with low levels of income and educational attainment, and in some areas crime and nuisance levels are high.  There is also a social gap between younger and older residents.  The EverybodyOnline project will create a programme of activities and extend access to the Internet and ICT to enable the Alamein community to overcome barriers to learning, strengthen community relations and become digitally included.
